London Christmas 2010 events

The Christmas period is one of the best to enjoy the city of London, although personally I prefer the warm weather that allows you to enjoy the beautiful parks . Christmas at Harrods in London is not only wrapped in holiday lights and the shops, but also markets and ice rinks that give the city an atmosphere of antiquity. It seems that the time stop, even if the lights are many and people entering and leaving the cab full of envelopes, there may happen to turn a corner believing meet Ebenzer Scrooge, collapsed in his coat with the collar turned up.

There are many events and attractions that you can enjoy these days, if you are lucky enough to spend Christmas in London. Only on December 25 will find little to do, shops, museums and churches are closed, public transport stops are also the few taxis, working at rates often double that of ordinary days. But in the end is how it should go, why do not you forget that Christmas is for everyone, even Mr. Scrooge.

Markets
  1. Winter Wonderland (from 19 November to 4 January), the most famous and important: it is located in Hyde Park and presents visitors with chalets and stalls full of sweets and crafts, sausages and roast chestnuts. A large Ferris wheel 50 meters of the nearby amusement park that dominates the whole market and ice rink makes a real Winter Wonderland Wonderland. The attractions are open daily (not Christmas Day) from 10 am to 22 pm.
  2. Cologne Christmas Market (from 19/11 to 22/12, all day until 20, Friday and Saturday until 22) along Queen's Walk, Southbank Centre in London Eye, with wooden chalets selling a wide range of handmade gifts and delicacies of Germany as Glühwein (mulled wine), and bratwursts Kölsch (the famous beer of Cologne). Tucked between the chalets is Santa's Secret Village.
  3. Covent Garden Real Food Market (every other day from 19/11 to 19/12) with fresh oysters, handmade chocolates and many other delights.
  4. Greenwich Christmas Market : qua works of art, crafts, collectors' items and the inevitable food stalls.
  5. Christmas Market at Camden Lock with a lot of fun, festivities and of course shopping until late night.

I trasporti riprendono progressivamente l'attività il 26 dicembre, con servizi ridotti: vi consiglio di consultare il sito Transport for London before moving on the days concerned.
in London on Christmas day the churches are closed to tourists.
(St. Paul's last visit to 13 24/12, 26/12 reopens, Westminster Abbey is closed to visitors on 24/12 and 25/12).
On 24, 25 and the Museums are closed on December 26 and the London Eye.
Most London restaurants are closed on Christmas Day, those who are open to apply higher charges than ordinary ones. All
London shops are closed on Christmas Day and December 26 beginning balances in many stores including Harrods too.
